Michigan MI Safe Start Map and MI Safe Schools Roadmap

The State of Michigan has created this resource to share the current restrictions by area. Please note that two of the counties in our service area (Crawford and Roscommon) are in Region 6 and two of the counties (Ogemaw and Oscoda) are in Region 4. Per Executive Order 2020-142, our programs function in the most restrictive Phase of either Region on this map. 

The MI Safe Schools Roadmap was released by the Governor's office to guide and support schools in planning for and implementing the requirements and recommendations of Executive 2020-142.

Schools are already planning how to resume learning amidst this pandemic with student, staff, and community health and safety along with academic rigor and success as our guideposts. Tech Training Resources

Michigan Virtual

Michigan Virtual is offering a number of their courses on Remote and Blended Learning at no cost to teachers this summer. Most of these courses include SCECHs and provide a great foundation based on their decades of Remote Teaching and Learning Experience.

EduPaths

There are a number of great courses for teachers in Edupaths. These are free for educators using their school email address. Just browse to the "Technology" Pathway, or search for "Google" to find courses on Classroom, Slides, Forms, Sheets, Docs, and Sites. Most of these have certificates and some have SCECHs.

Google Teach From Home Toolkit

Google has released a Teach From Home Toolkit with resources for teachers planning to deliver instruction using Google tools. 

Illuminate DnA

Illuminate has setup some Distance Learning Sample Plans which leverage tools in the Illuminate account you already have.

Keep Michigan Learning

Michigan Virtual has created the Keep Michigan Learning website to provide resources to support all schools and families as they implement remote learning.

Regional Educational Media Centers (REMCs) stand ready to assist Michigan’s education community as you make enrichment activities available for students as they shelter at home due to COVID-19.  We are supporting you, too, with free courses so you can continue your professional learning. Michigan Department of Education Free and Low Cost Online Supplemental Resources

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is maintaining a webpage of resources to districts.  The intent of these resources is to assist with supplemental online distance and virtual learning opportunities for all students. The resources on this page are not intended to replace any resources that the district already has and is providing to students.  District provided resources are aligned to local curriculum and opportunities.  The intent of these resources is to provide districts with additional tools to fill in any possible gaps.  Please continue to visit this website and review the information sent by the department as these resources and guidance will be continually updated.

Essential Workforce in Need of Child Care (Executive Order 2020-16)

Are you an Essential Worker looking for child care within Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, and Roscommon Counties for a child who is birth to 12 years old? In accordance with Executive Order 16, COOR ISD is partnering with the Northeast Great Start to Quality Resource Center to help you find child care that is available through April 15th. The intake form on www.helpmegrow-mi.org/essential website is the first step in the process to apply for child care. It helps us connect you with the program that you feel is best for your family. Once we receive your completed intake, you will be contacted within 24 hours.

Food Distribution

Local School Districts are offering FREE meals to ALL children age 18 and under and to students with disabilities ages 18-26 (with active Individualized Education Plans).  Two meals per day will be provided per child, even when schools were scheduled to be on spring break.  Students do not need to be attending school in this district to receive food.  COOR Educational Center students may collect food at their nearest or most convenient location.

Crawford County

Crawford AuSable School District will distribute food at the following locations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 AM to 1 PM.  Families will receive enough meals to cover the days between pick-ups. If you have questions, contact Kim Schmidt at 344-3757.

Oscoda County

Mio AuSable Schools will distribute one week's worth of food on Mondays from 10:30 AM until the food is gone.  If you have questions, you can call Mary Miller at 826-2406.

Ogemaw County

West Branch-Rose City Area Schools will distribute meals on weekdays from 10 AM to 12 PM at the following locations. Families will receive enough meals to cover the days between pick-ups.  If you have questions, contact Karyn Randall at 343-2001.

Surline School: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Rose City School: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Roscommon County

Charlton Heston Academy will distribute meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM to 2 PM, pick up or delivery.  If you have questions, call Heather Bozzo at 632-3390.

 

Houghton Lake Community Schools will provide breakfast & lunch packages at the following locations. Families will receive enough meals to cover the days between pick-ups. If you have questions, call Mr. Bob Bryant at 366-2029 or the Administrative Center at 366-2035.

Collins Lower Elementary- behind the school 11 AM- 1 PM

And HLCS buses will deliver food to the following locations from 3:30-5:30 PM:

Roscommon Area Public Schools will deliver food along their normal bus route Monday, Wednesday, and Friday beginning at 11 AM.  Two meals per day are provided.  Four meals are distributed Monday and Wednesday and six meals are distributed on Fridays.  Families may wave down the bus if you are not a regular bus rider.   If you have any questions, please call 275-6600.
